A Range Rover Evoque high-performance SVR model is becoming a strong possibility.
According to a recent report from Motoring, Land Rover wants to create more high-performance variants once the first Jaguar SVR model is completed by the British automaker’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division.
According to the company’s design director, Gerry McGovern, early design work on the next-generation Evoque has already begun, but that model won’t arrive until 2018 at the earliest. In the meantime, McGovern isn’t ruling out an Evoque SVR variant and confirmed his desire to see one soon. “Evoque runs for another three years and I’m not saying no to anything because the whole reason for Special Vehicle Operations is to take all these different families and actually do special versions on all of them,” he told Motoring.

The first SVR project was the Range Rover Sport SVR, packing a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine with 550 hp paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Once the Range Rover Evoque SVR becomes a reality, expect more Land Rovers to get similar treatment as McGovern noted that “SVO is not about offering better, it’s about taking these vehicles and offering more choice.”
