Without a doubt, the biggest auto show in North America is the Detroit Auto Show. A ton of new car reveals happen there, but this year one auto-group will be notably absent: JaguarLand Rover.

According to Automotive News the European automaker will be skipping this years show in order to focus on events that align better with the brands marketing style. Range Rover displayed a new Evoque convertible at the LA Auto Show last week and Jaguar’s new XE sedan and F-Pace crossover were also making North American debuts.

The automaker has confirmed that it isn’t skipping all US auto shows and will be at the New York Auto Show. The brand will also have a presence at international auto shows like the Geneva Motor Show, the Frankfurt/Paris Motor Show and the Beijing/Shanghai motor show.

One fun fact is that this isn’t the first time Jaguar Land Rover has skipped the Detroit show. Back in 2012 the brand wasn’t on the show floor, yet the Range Rover Evoque still won the “North American International Auto Show Truck of the Year” award. Maybe they’re really superstitious and are trying their luck at the award again.
