The Range Rover Sport is now available as a plug-in hybrid, which happens to be the company’s first car capable of zero-emissions driving.
The British automaker has updated the entire 2018 Range Rover Sport lineup, giving the SUV a facelift featuring a new front bumper, an updated grille, and LED headlights. Inside the cabin, the SUV has been updated with a new infotainment system, which Jaguar Land Rover says is the most advanced system ever created by the company. It features a pair of high-definition, 10-inch touchscreens.
But the big news is the introduction of the company’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the Range Rover Sport P400e. Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor, it has a combined system output of 398 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. The model offers an all-electric range of 31 miles (51 kilometers) and marks the first time Land Rover customers can experience zero-emissions driving. According to Land Rover, the plug-in hybrid goes zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds (zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds) and has a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h).
The plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport won’t arrive until summer 2018, however, as a 2019 model year vehicle. Expect pricing for the Range Rover Sport P400e to be announced closer to its launch.

The updated 2018 Range Rover Sport will arrive U.S. retailers early next year, priced from $67,745 including destination. That gets buyers a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine with 340 hp. There is also the option for a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine with 254 hp and a starting price of $69,745. In the middle of the range is the HSE Dynamic trim, with a 380-hp supercharged V6 engine, priced from $83,145.
Buyers that want even more performance can look at the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 gasoline engine, which provides 518 hp. That model starts from $83,045. At the top of the range is the SVR version, sporting 575 hp and a $114,595 price tag. That’s 25 hp more than the previous model, allowing the Range Rover Sport SVR to go zero-to-60 mph in 4.3 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds).
