The first of hopefully many SVR models from Land Rover has made its official debut.
Sporting a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine with 550 hp, the Range Rover Sport SVR is capable of going 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 162 mph. That means it’s just as quick as the old BMW X5 M and is faster than the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG, but is still a few ticks slower than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, which does the 60-mph sprint in 4.1 seconds.

The powerplant is mated to ZF’s eight-speed automatic transmission, which has been retuned for the SVR model and according to the British automaker, shifts 50-percent faster. Standard on the SVR is a two-speed transfer case and up to 100 percent of torque can be transferred to either the front or rear axle as needed. Outside, the high-performance SUV sports more aggressive styling and a quad exhaust in the rear, while in the cabin new sport seats adorn the interior.
Pricing was also announced with the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR priced from $110,475 including destination.
